Peek Inside

They are all covered in lustrous pink satin; they all look very similar on stage. When seen in cross-section, however, the differences among pointe shoes become clear.   Most traditionally made pointe shoes rely on a combination of paste, fabric, leather, and  cardboard for stiffness. Gaynor Minden, on the other hand, makes its supportive components from unbreakable elastomeric materials, the same sort of materials found in the best athletic footwear and equipment. Our shoes are cushioned with Roger’s Corporation’s Poron® 4000 which carries the American Medical Podiatric Association’s Seal of Acceptance. Our linings are treated with silver ion.

The best way to achieve a perfect pointe shoe fit is to go in person to an experienced fitter who maintains a large inventory so you can try many different options. We encourage you to use the worldwide Store Locator on this page to find a fitter near you.

No store can carry every Gaynor Minden product, so call first.

If no results are returned, drag or zoom to find the nearest location to you. If you are not able to find a store near you, don’t worry! We will do our best to fit you online.

A short note on a sensitive subject: We believe that when a fitter in a dancewear store devotes time and sincere effort to helping a dancer find the right shoe, then that store deserves the sale. Gaynor Minden urges dancers to honor the work of stores’ fitters.
